#SAMW ; Kim Gush Interview #KimandCoco

I met this wonderful woman a few days before SA Menswear week.

She was looking for a specific item and just couldn’t find it anywhere close to her,but it was close to me lol.So I decided true to my nature to assist, luckily I did because wow she is really a pleasant woman, that is making her statement on the fashion catwalks, soon she will be headlining New York, Paris,Milan all we have to do is keep on supporting.I have had the privilege of interviewing her and watching her do her thing at #SAMW SS16 #supportlocal

How long have you been into fashion design?

My interest in fashion started out when I was studying Art Direction & Motion-picture makeup. I always loved creating the entire picture – and that’s where my love for costume design started my relationship with fashion. I will always ultimately love to work in costume design & film as well, but there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing people interpret your garments, on a daily basis, in their own way.

What has been your biggest inspiration?

My influences & inspirations always come from whatever I’m really into at that point in time. What has kept me going is the need for different takes on apparel in our generic trend saturated market.

What has been your greatest moment in your career so far?

Every new show & every new project is always a step up. My SAMW S/S16 collection definitely started some interesting both positive & negative debate – it was controversial. It really embodied what the brand is about – and in that, I feel, is an achievement on its own.

What has been your worst moment in your career so far?

Nothing is rainbows & sunshine. I think that moment when you realise most people are just out to help themselves, is the moment you learn a lot that you will cherish in your career to come.

Who is your favourite local designer?

There really is some incredible talent in SA at the moment – I strongly admire the aestethics & craftmanship of Augustine & Rich Mnisi. These brands both embody forward thinking fashion, as well as impeccably executed craft.

What is your go to beauty product at the moment?

If anyone has met me, you will know I’m not the most prim of ladies. I believe in salon hair products, an epic hairstylist & a damn good moisturiser (with SPF). Haute & Naughty Mascara from MAC is probably the only makeup I wear on most days.

What would be your advice to aspiring designers?

Know what you stand for, and know your brand from the get go. If you cannot embody that in every collection or garment you put out there, then who are you doing it for?

Kim’s online store will be up for the summer which will be launching with her #SAMW SS16 range. You can sign up to her newsletter via her website¬†or email her if you would like to place orders sooner.

  1. Gorgeous! I’m obsessed with all black, and relaly loved this post. I almost reached for an all-black outfit yesterday for NYFW but then thought twice since it seems too early in the season for that. But you’re so right – black is always effortlessly chic. Thanks for the inspiration, and I’m definitely wearing all black tonight!- Jordan, lure of luxe

  2. Then in the early 1990 came the Web, primarily
created ffor defence communication and university use, it turned highly
    regarded when Microsoft introduced Windows
